Child Marriages in India: Storify

History Vlog Questions

The three questions I chose to answer in this video were how do people come to power and how is that power sanctioned? What are some commonalities of dictators and other autocratic, absolute rulers? And What are the benefits and detriments (pros and cons) of absolute rule.dictatorship?

Person of Power Project: General Francisco Franco

http://www.wix.com/kaceykuchenbecker/general-francisco-franco

This is a website that I created using wix. I chose to do a website because all of my work is neatly organized, and also because I really like using wix. I haven't had any technical dificulties with it yet and it is easy and fun to use. Wix is a really good site to use when building a website and I will definatly use it in the future. When choosing my dictator, I originally wanted Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, or Benito Musselini. But, because all of them were taken I ended up with Franco. I was kind of bummed I didn't get the people I wanted but after doing research on Franco, he was actually quite interesting. I learned a lot about him and about facism, which I wasn't really educated about before.

Queen Elizabeth Interview video

For our project we were assigned Queen Elizabeth. Our video is based off a talk show (Gabby and I are the interviewers) and Queen Elizabeth (Sam) is our guest.

Renaissance Infographic

For our infographic, we represented the motivations, creators, creations, and + & - results with a picture of a watering can watering a flower. The watering can represents the creators because they are the ones that make the creations. The water droplets represents the motivations the creators had, the center of the flower represents the creations and sprouting from the creations is the postive impacts the creations made. Lastly, the weeds represents the negative impacts of the creation. Since weeds are "evil" and are known for taking up space and killing other plants, the weeds represent negative in our infographic.

Michelangelo Website

http://www.wix.com/kaceykuchenbecker/michelangelo-buonarroti

My experience with Wix went pretty well considering this was my first website I have ever made. I loved how creative Wix was, which made me open to many different choices and formats that I could use. I had a few techniqual difficulties with my website, but Mrs. Burvall was able to help me with those, which helped a lot. Building this website was surprisingly fun, considering it was a project. By being exposed to Wix, I now know how to make a website and if I ever need to make a website in the future, I will know how to now because of Wix.

Unit 1: Prezi Exam

The Question I answered was "How are History and the Arts Connected". I answered this question through three different ways; photography, visual art, and literature. My artifacts for my photography section were "Migrant Mother" and "VJ Day Times Square Kiss". The Artifacts I used for my Visual Art section were Picasso's Guernica and Francisco Goya's Third of May. Lastly, I used The poem "To the Little Boy with His Arms Up" and the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" for my artfacts under Literature. Overall everything went pretty well when building my prezi. Everyone else seemed to have a lot of problems with their prezi, but everything with me went great! I actually liked using prezi; its a lot more different than a powerpoint!

Guernica Project

Guernica_project

My Guernica project is about the addiction to technology. In my painting I painted what looks to be a boy looking into a mirror, but his reflection is the character of the video game who he is addicted to. This represents the addiction that kids have to video games. In the painting the reflection of the mirror represents what used to have meaning to him, which was sports and skateboarding. But since he began drawn to video games, everything that used to be important to him is now "in the trash" meaning, he stoped doing things he loved for video games. The mirror also shows that what you do may reflect on how you see yourself, meaning, what you do can change who you are as a person.

What I found challenging about this project was adding music from youtube into the powerpoint. Sam and I were determind to have music on it, but I'm pretty sure what ever we did didn't work. I also found it challenging at first to convert the google doc into a powerpoint and then onto my posterous because so many problems would occur on the way. It was also hard to figure out how to link the powerpoint to our name. But at least we finally got it! :)

Louise Carter (Louise Roerk) Documentary

(download)

I chose to do my documentary video about my Great Grandmother Louise because I feel she made a big impact on her community. She was very caring and inspiring which made me want to share her story. Even though I have never met her, I have a picture in my mind of what she would be like, and I know I would have liked her.
